What do you think would be the future of video games?

In my opinion future of video games can't be predicted that easily. By the terms "Future" people will immediately think of better graphic, more realistic, more futuristic and other thinks like that. But that doesn't seems to be the case with example with game trending like fall guys and among us that is trending recently without good graphics or realistic feature in the game.

Time to time the graphics in video games will evolved. For example from playing snake games from our Nokia phone, playing 64-bit Mario from Nintendo, or maybe final fantasy VII from PS1 or a PC game like Half-life which have terrible graphic and now evolving to games like The last of us, Call of duty, and other high end graphic games and realistic gameplay that surely hooked a lot of player and become popular because how beautiful the graphics is. Other easy example are sports games. How graphics change from games like FIFA, PES, or NBA through out the year. There is also mobile games with unbelievable graphics like genshin impact and PUBG is also sign how games have evolved with fun gameplay and great graphics that we can play game anywhere and anytime. And in recent time we also have VR (Virtual Reality) that allow us to play as if we are in the game.

But does that mean the future of video games that is popular will only consist of games with High end graphic and super realistic gameplay? In my opinion is a yes and no at the same time. Of course games that have super beautiful graphics that constantly being release by the Triple A Company like EA, Sony, and other company will always have a strong player base and could be popular. But popular games can't never be predicted. Of course time by time games graphic will always evolved, like recently Sony releasing PS 5 that can play games in 4K followed up by Microsoft Xbox zero that will comes later this year. But that doesn't mean player will only be hooked by game with high graphics or realistic. Easy example are games likes fall guys and Among Us, a cartoony games that is popular and everyone playing it with their friends right now even though games like call of duty warzone, CS:GO with great graphic exist. People choose to play games with this simple graphics like fall guys and Among us. Or maybe the different approach like Nintendo who unlike Playstation and X-box don't really cares about graphics or realistic games and keep making their own style like Zelda, Mario or the recent release Animal Crossing in their own consoles that is the Switch. Other easy example are how "Futuristic" Virtual Reality is, but in reality only very few people actually playing VR games and instead playing games normally in their PC or consoles.

In conclusion game will of course evolved to have beautiful graphics, hyper realistic gameplay will comes out a lot in the future. Of course a lot of player will get hooked by the "Realistic Graphics" it have and the player base of those game will be a lot. But that doesn't mean that there is all to it in the gaming market. The indie games will rise with it simple graphic and fun gameplay that people will also play. Games like Undertale, Five nights at freddys, happy wheels and others can shook the gaming community the same as the high graphic triple A games like battlefield, Call of duty and etc. In the end what the player want is fresh gameplay and to have fun with the game they like and anything can happen in the future of video games if that is the case whether its a mobile games, PC or even console games.
